As part of a project implemented by the Center for Research and Studies “GEA” from Banja Luka in collaboration with the City Administration of Gradiška, a digital platform has been developed to enable citizens to easily participate in public discussions on drafts of the city budget and other documents.
The project is supported by the WeBER 3.0 Small Grants Program, implemented in Bosnia and Herzegovina by the Foreign Policy Initiative BiH, and funded by the European Union and the Austrian Development Agency.
Marko Martić, Executive Director of the Center for Research and Studies “GEA,” stated that Gradiška is the first local administration in Bosnia and Herzegovina to allow citizens to participate in budgeting and decision-making processes related to local community development in this way. The goal is to make it as simple as possible for citizens to propose projects and provide suggestions during public discussions.
Darko Vrhovac, Head of the Department for Development and International Projects of the City of Gradiška, highlighted that over the past several years, the City Administration has been actively working on digitalizing local administration and strengthening the role of citizens in decision-making during the creation of the city budget and planning documents. These efforts have gained recognition from the EU and other international partners.
