Under the slogan “We don’t want to wait for jobs, we want to create them!”, the first Youth Business Forum was held in Sarajevo on October 2nd and 3rd.
The aim of this event was to encourage dialogue between key actors on mechanisms of support to young people who wish to start their own business.
“At the Youth Business Forum, students proved that they are ready to create conditions for their own employment and business development through their work, knowledge and creativity” – is what more than 80 participants of the Youth Business Forum agreed upon.
This event, organized within the “Youth Entrepreneurship” project, gathered the representatives of government institutions, academic and business community, international donors, students and media in order to support and promote young people in B&H who wish to start their own business. Words of support to students present were delivered by Mr. David J. Barth, the chief of the USAID mission to B&H and Mr. Muharem Avdispahic, the rector of the University of Sarajevo.
“Student Entrepreneurship” is a three-year project supported by the United States Agency for International Development USAID aimed at promoting entrepreneurship among students from domestic universities. The partners of the project are the University of Sarajevo, University of Banja Luka and University of Mostar, while companies that recognized the importance of investment in youth and their knowledge are m:tel BiH, Hypo Alpe Adria bank and ASA Group.
