Within the project “Increasing employment through the creation of environmental jobs and biodiversity conservation” funded by the EU and implemented by GEA – Center for Research and Studies, a workshop was held in the municipality of Bosanski Petrovac on possibilities for the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants in the area of Unsko-sanski canton and northwestern Republic of Srpska.
Farmers from Bosanski Petrovac, Krupa na Uni, Drinic and other surrounding places had the opportunity to attend a practical training on MAP cultivation, which was followed by a practical demonstration of planting marigold in an experimental plot of land.
The workshop was organized in cooperation with the firm “Prirodno bilje” d.o.o. (Eng. Natural plants), which provided free distribution of seeds of some medicinal plants to interested breeders, and which also ensured the buying up after the planted species are harvested. In the upcoming period, within the project, another 15 000 square metters of experimental plots will be sown at least, where various species of MAP will be breeded.
Representing the Agricultural institute of Unsko-sanski canton, Mr. Smail Toromanovic attended the workshop and presented the supportive measures system for MAP breeders in this canton.
